President, Citadel Execution Services Europe, CITADEL CAPITAL MARKETSMatteo Cassina is the President of Citadel Execution Services in Europe. Citadel has recently launched a new offering to address the needs of sell-side firms seeking additional liquidity to that displayed on traditional venues or MTFs. Previously Matteo was the head of Total Trader SM for Merrill Lynch offering cross-asset execution, clearing and custody to broker-dealers and banks in Europe. Before that he was the head of PrimeAccess SM for Goldman Sachs.
Michael Fridrich is legal and policy affairs officer in Unit G3 (securities markets) of the European Commission/ DG MARKT. Michael joined the European Commission in June 2008. From 2002 to 2008 he has been working with he German Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin), dealing with international and cross-sectoral affairs. Michael has studied law at the Universities of Göttingen, Geneva and Heidelberg. He holds a Master's degree in European Studies of the College of Europe (Brügge/Natolin).
Oliver Albers, Senior Managing Director, Global Data Products, THE
NASDAQ OMX GROUP
Oliver Albers is Head of Global Sales and Account
Management for NASDAQ OMX Global Data Products. The Global Data Products team is
focused on creating innovative real-time and historical data products that
provide unsurpassed market transparency to institutional, retail and individual
investors. Mr. Albers and his team are responsible for providing value-added
consultative services to all NASDAQ OMX market data vendors and for managing
relationships with data subscribers. Prior to this role, Mr. Albers held other
sales and product management positions at NASDAQ OMX and was instrumental in the
launch and implementation of many new products including the NASDAQ Closing
Cross, NASDAQ TotalView, Velocity and Forces, Market Pathfinders, Market Replay
and ModelView.
Mr. Albers holds a Bachelor in Business Administration
from Ohio University and a Masters in Business Administration from The George
Washington University.
Betsy Anderson, Head of Centralised Dealing, IGNIS ASSET
MANAGEMENT
Investment Experience: 19 years
Betsy graduated in Law in 1987. She joined Scottish Widows Life Assurance
Company, in Edinburgh, in the Investment Accounting department. In 1989 she
joined Baillie Gifford Investment Managers, in their back office, moving into a
dealing role as the centralised dealing desk developed. Betsy's primary
responsibility was in Asia and Japan, moving through all regions, globally, over
an 8 year period. Betsy left Baillie Gifford in 1997 to trade Asia and Latin
America at Martin Currie Investment Managers, being promoted to Head of Dealing
in 1998. Betsy joined Ignis Asset Management in October 1999 to set up a
Centralised Dealing Desk.
Toby Bayliss, Head of Portfolio and Algorithmic Trading, Europe,
SANFORD C. BERNSTEIN
Toby Bayliss is Head of Sanford C. Bernstein's Algorithmic and
Portfolio Trading Desk in Europe. Toby began his financial career as a graduate
at Nomura London in 1995, and spent 4 years working alongside the Equity Sales
force as a Quantitative Analyst. Joining Citigroup in 1999 to be a founding
member of the Global Portfolio Trading Strategies Team, Toby worked on all
aspects of portfolio construction, risk, execution analysis and trading
strategies. In 2002 Toby moved internally to the Alternative Executions Sales
team, responsible for sales and sales trading of Portfolio Trading, Algorithmic
Trading, DMA and Trading Strategies. In 2007 Toby became head of Citigroup's
Electronic Execution Sales team in Europe before assuming his current role at
Sanford C. Bernstein in 2008. Toby received a Bachelor of Science degree in
Engineering Mathematics from Bristol University and a Master of Engineering in
Petroleum Engineering from Heriot-Watt University.
Scott Bradley, Head of Sales EMEA, Electronic Client Solutions,
JPMORGAN
Scott Bradley is Head of Electronic Trading Sales, EMEA at J.P. Morgan.
Previously, he was a Managing Director - International Algorithmic Trading at
Bear Sterns in London after having joined from Goldman Sachs where he also
worked in Electronic & Algorithmic trading roles. He began his career with
ITG as a Pan-European Sales Trader specialising in Program trading and portfolio
execution cost analysis.
Scott holds an honours degree in Finance from the University of Manchester
School of Accounting & Finance and is a member of the FPL EMEA Regional
Committee.
Takis Christias, Director, Electronic Execution Sales and Analytics,
CITI
Takis Christias is currently responsible for developing algorithmic
post-trade analytics, and for Electronic Execution Sales in Greece and Cyprus at
Citi. Over his professional career, he has held various positions with
bulge-bracket financial firms and smaller hedge funds both in New York and
London. These include developing a trading system for interest-rate derivatives,
developing trading strategies for equity options, managing and trading
index-enhanced international equity portfolios, and quantitative work for
program trading.
Takis holds M.Sc. degrees in Electrical Engineering, and Applied Mathematics. He
also holds an MBA, and he is a CFA charterholder.
Gangadhar Darbha, Product Manager, Algorithmic Trading, ROYAL BANK OF
SCOTLAND
Dr. Gangadhar Darbha holds a PhD (Economics, IGIDR) and Post-Doc
(Finance, Wharton School). He has earlier worked in National Stock Exchange,
Mumbai, University of Pretoria, Indian School of Business, Morgan Stanley,
London and ABN Amro, London. Currently he is employed with the Royal Bank of
Scotland, as Product Manager, Algorithmic Trading for Rates, Credit and FX
areas. His responsibilities include development of pricing , hedging and optimal
execution algorithms for FI and FX traders, and coordinate the development of
trading systems based on the algorithms.
Alex Foster, Head of UK Sales, Global Execution Services, BNP PARIBAS
Alex joined the Equities & Derivatives division of BNP Paribas in
2006 with a specific remit to build and run the Execution and International
Prime Brokerage (EIPB) product line within the UK and Europe. EIPB offers world
wide cash equity and listed derivatives execution capabilities ranging from
vanilla trading, Direct Market Access, Algorithmic and Global portfolio trading
& commission management. More recently the team has developed BNP Paribas'
smart order routing technology to access liquidity across multiple trading
venues. Previously Alex worked as a sales trader initially at Paribas then ING
Barings & latterly at Macquarie where she was Divisional Director for Pan
Asian sales trading for UK & Europe.
Simon Hazlitt, Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer, MAJEDIE ASSET
MANAGEMENT
In 2003, Simon became the Client Director of Majedie Asset Management;
founder/client relationship manager. Previously, in 2002, he was a Director of
MLIM; IT Strategist for MLIM Europe, Middle East & Africa, and Alpha team
client relationship manager responsible for 25 clients with assets of £0.9bn. In
1997, he joined Mercury Asset Management as Business Manager of Alpha team. In
1988, Simon joined the British Army, specialising in communications and
airmobile infantry operations.
Lee Hodgkinson, Chief Executive Officer, SMARTPOOL TRADING
Lee Hodgkinson became CEO of SmartPool on 1 May 2009. Previously, he was CEO of
SWX Europe and a Member of the Management Board of SIX Swiss Exchange, a
position he held since December 2006. He was Director of Market Operations in
the five years prior to this. Lee began his career in the Markets Division of
the London Stock Exchange where he worked for nine years and is an alumnus of
Harvard Business School.
Rishi Karir, Director AES Sales, CREDIT SUISSE
Rishi Karir is a Director of Credit Suisse in the Investment Banking
Division, based in London. He is Head of Advanced Execution Services (AES) UK
hedge fund sales.
Prior to this role, Mr. Karir was a member of the AES sales team in London
covering UK hedge funds and institutions as well as clients in the Middle East
and South Africa. Mr. Karir joined Credit Suisse in 2006 from Bloomberg L.P.
where he was a UK based salesman to a variety of clients from the buy and sell
side.
Mr. Karir holds a B.S.c degree in Economics and Finance from Brunel University.
Gulamabbas Lakha, CEO and Chief Information Officer, PROVIDENTIA
CAPITAL
Gulamabbas founded Providentia Capital in 2004 and built a team of
experienced investment professionals to develop Global Tactical Asset Allocation
(GTAA) investment techniques. The investment process he has created offers an
original perspective on economics and returns from bond, equity, currency and
commodity markets across the world. Gulamabbas’ approach innovatively integrates
the art of GTAA based portfolio construction with the mathematics of asymmetry.
In response to investor requests, he has also launched a specialist GTAA
advisory service.
Prior to founding Providentia Capital, Gulamabbas practiced as a global
strategist at Baring Asset Management in London, working in a team with global
portfolios worth $3 billion, investing across all major currency, bond and
equity markets. He had responsibilities for macroeconomics, econometric
modelling and quantitative portfolio construction, as well as providing a global
strategy perspective to managing a fund of hedge funds.
Gulamabbas graduated as a Windsor Fellow with a degree in Economics and
Econometrics from Nottingham University, where he obtained a Distinction.
Stephane Loiseau, Managing Director, Head of Execution Services,
SOCIETE GENERALE
Stephane Loiseau was named in July of 2008 as the Deputy Global Head of
Execution Services, which comprises Global Program Trading, Electronic Services
and Sales Trading.
Stephane began his career with Societe Generale in New York in 1996 as a trader
on international equities. He then joined the Program Trading team in London for
3 years where he contributed to the creation of a global execution platform.
Stephane returned to New York in 2000 as Head of the New York Program Trading
desk, then Deputy Head of Global Program Trading, becoming Global Head of
Program Trading in 2004.
In mid 2006, Electronic Services and Program Trading activities were brought
together and Stephane became co-Head of Global Program Trading & Electronic
Services.
In mid 2007, Single-stock Sales-trading was integrated into this activity as
well in order to regroup all Equity Execution Services from Societe Generale
under one umbrella.
In July 2008, Stephane relocated to London to become Deputy Global Head of
Execution Services, as well as head of Execution for London. Stephane graduated
from EM Lyon Business School.
Simon Maisey, Global Head of Rates e-Commerce, JPMORGAN
Mr. Maisey is responsible for the strategy, development, implementation and
marketing of all electronic trading across JPMorgan's Global Rates business.
Before this, in his 11 years at JPMorgan, he has held a variety of COO positions
across Fixed Income and Currencies businesses within the firm. He has served on
the boards of TradeWeb, SwapsWire and LiquidityHub and for several years as a
founding member on the SwapClear Default Management Group for the London
Clearing House.
Before joining JPMorgan Mr Maisey worked as a Civil Engineer for the consulting
engineers Ove Arup and Partners. He holds a Masters degree in Engineering
Science from the University of Oxford.
Tom Middleton, Head of European Algorithmic Trading, CITI
Tom Middleton has worked in Electronic Trading at Citigroup in London
for seven years, and has held roles encompassing client execution, proprietary
trading and automated market making. Since 2004, Tom has been Head of EMEA
Algorithmic Trading Products. This role includes the design, development and
delivery of all aspects of electronic execution for Citi's internal trading
desks and its clients: with particular focus recently on internalization and
development of optimal Smart Order Routing Strategies to deal with the changing
trading landscape in Europe. Tom holds a PhD in Chemical Physics from Cambridge
University.
Andrew Morgan, Head of Autobahn Equity Europe, DEUTSCHE BANK
Andrew Morgan is European Head of Autobahn Equity, Deutsche Bank’s electronic
trading platform for equities. Andrew joined Deutsche Bank in 2004 from the
Equities Division of Goldman Sachs. He began his career at PWC and is an ACA.
Lincoln Osunkoya, Account Director, STREAMBASE
Lincoln Osunkoya is an associate in the London capital markets team of
StreamBase. He works with leading financial institutions, investment banks,
broker-dealers and hedge funds advising on solutions for real-time risk,
liquidity discovery, best execution and algorithmic-trading. Lincoln has over 20
years operations, consulting and management experience in deploying mission
critical systems to a variety of capital markets and other industry sectors.
Patrik Ristner, Head of UK Sales, NEONET
Patrik Ristner is the Head of UK Sales for Neonet, a global agency brokerage
firm and technology provider. Patrik comes from an equity trading background
having started and managed the Hong Kong trading desk for Pan Capital, an
international investment company, and previously he was Head of Trading at
Swedish brokerage firm JP Nordiska, running the proprietary trading desk there.
Patrik also has a background in trading technology, having started and managed
the Chicago office of Orc Software, a trading technology provider.
Brian Schwieger, Head of EMEA Algorithmic Execution, MERRILL LYNCH
Brian Schwieger is head of EMEA Algorithmic Execution for Merrill
Lynch, managing the Quantitative Engineering, Execution Desk and Execution
Consulting associated with Merrill Lynch’s algorithmic product in Europe. In
this capacity, he leverages 15 years of trading experience to help traders and
clients understand and identify the algorithmic strategies and tactics which
best suit their objectives. His previous trading experience spans Equity
Portfolio, Equity Cash and Commodities (Oil & Gas). Brian joined Merrill
Lynch in 2005.
Brian holds a Masters in Finance from London Business School and a BSc(Econ)
from the London School of Economics.
Michael Seigne, Head of European Algorithmic Trading Sales, GOLDMAN
SACHS
Michael is head of European Algorithmic Sales. Previously, he co-managed the
European Program Trading business in London, where he worked since 2002. Michael
joined oldman Sachs in 1994 as a foreign exchange trader in Hong Kong. He moved
to the Equities Division in 1996 and worked in Hong Kong and Australia as an
equities
sales trader until 2002. He was named managing director in 2007.
Prior to joining the firm, Michael was a civil engineer in Hong Kong.
He was educated in Ireland and England nd received a BA in Civil Engineering and
Maths from Trinity College, Dublin.
Richard Semark, Managing Director, European Client Trading and
Execution, UBS
Richard Semark joined UBS London in June 2004 as a Managing Director
responsible for UK to UK Sales Trading. He previously worked at AXA Investment
Managers and UBS Asset Management for 15 years. This experience meant that he
was a key part of the UBS unbundling team responsible both for strategy
formulation and marketing to clients.In 2007 Richard became COO for UBS Client
Trading and Execution within European Equities with responsibility for Execution
Client Relationships, strategy and marketing.
Michael Simmonds, Head of Liquid Markets’ Analytics, NOMURA
INTERNATIONAL
Michael Simmonds heads the European Liquid Market Analytics team at Nomura. He
has worked at Nomura (and formerly Lehman Brothers) since August 2003 starting
as a quant studying Trading Analytics. He is the product manager for Nomura's
market leading analytical suite, TradeSpex and is heavily involved in the
development of Nomura's Electronic product. Michael holds a Bachelors and PhD
degree in Applied Mathematics from the University of Cambridge.
Edward Strauss, Head of Sales and Electronic Trading, BAADER BANK
Edward Strauss has been with Baader Bank for over 5 years, and has been
responsible for setting up and building out Baader’s electronic agency trading
business. He is an American that has been living in Germany for over 15 years,
and has had a wide array of experiences in dealing with continental European
banks and brokers. Prior to Baader, Edward worked for Knight Trading Group in
sales and business development, as well as at HVB as a trader and sales trader.
Martin Toyer, CTO, NYLON CAPITAL
Martin Toyer is CTO of the global macro hedge fund Nylon Capital. In his role at
Nylon, Martin has build numerous trading, execution and risk analytics to
support extensive fixed income, foreign exchange and commodity trading
strategies. Previous to joining Nylon in 2005, Martin ran a substantial risk and
analytics technology group into Barclays Capital. Martin holds a Mathematics
degree from Brasenose College, Oxford University.
Tim Wildenberg, Head of Direct Execution, Europe, UBS
Tim Wildenberg is the Managing Director running the Direct Execution business in
Europe for UBS Investment Bank. He is responsible for the product development,
marketing and day to day operations of UBS's award winning DMA and DSA (Direct
Strategy Access) services. In previous roles Tim was a market maker in European
Equities and one of the founding Director's of FIX Protocol Ltd.
